The webMASTER!!!

I am Jacob. This is my website. I am a Twenty-Six year old programmer and artist dwelling in Harvard Yard within Cambridge, MA. It is †sharp‡. Both skills (programming and art) are pretty amaturish, the former is substantially less so than the latter. I'm also amaturishly self-depricating. This site was hand-coded in AJAX, PHP, MySQL and Smarty, it also utilizes a bit of jQuery to spice up this otherwise bland meal.

The Content, What Content?

Every so often I'll write in this little blog of mine to keep potential clients and employers at bay. I wrote this site with the intention of pontificating on my political, moral and philisophial beliefs - As i am a staunch progressive thinker (but who doesnt see themselves that way). However, as soon as the site went up, approximately last July, the tap ran dry. Maybe its for the best. Instead I often find myself writing about Industrial Concerts, Bands I like, Movies, and Irrelevant ideas that I just insist need to be discussed. Every once and a while, I'll record the current task of a project that I'm focusing on. So essentially this site is, as most blogs, an amalgamation of rubbish.

The Design

Unless you're one of those hyper-observent few who have the same penchant for World War Two as I do, the name Popgun Eight Eight is a none-to-carefully shrouded reference to the most famous gun of the war, The 88mm Flugabwehr-Kanone. That decided the artistic direction of the site: a cold, clean, efficient commanding design.

The Function

Since most of the content that shows up on this site is arbitrary at best, why do I spend the money on a dedicated server when I could just as easily have a MySpace.com account? This is an fair question. The function of this site is to shelter my clients in a secure, consolidated server. Within recent months, I have been developing an intuitive Ecommerce/Content-Management System called WebLab in order to better serve them. Popgun88.org is a dedicated server in Midphase's Datacenter in Chicago, IL. I went with midphase because my friend Mike worked there.

The Resumé

The most traditional way to highlight my employability is via the arcane method of the resume. Hopefully I applied the correct accent direction.
