Wespe

For the last two nights I've been building the E-commerce module, Breadline. The functionality of the Products, Categories and Product Options are nearing a conclusion. Alas, it has been slow and grueling, especially regarding option sets. I would estimate 3 hours has been devoted to it.

Tommorrow I will begin the frontend work for Breadline. That will be followed by the inclusion of Orders and Customers in the admin portion.

Anyway, this AIM log was quoted by my buddy Dav. It was during the conceptual phase of product options.

(10:35:43) JakeTwo3: eg: if a user is selling nuclear bombs
(10:35:56) JakeTwo3: actually i dont know that much about bombs
(10:36:23) JakeTwo3: okay, lets say he's selling ak-47s

Egad

I was long overdue for a gAIM upgrade. I was running 0.6.4 or some archiac version. Anyway, as I was setting up my preferences, I noticed perhaps the most useful set of them I've ever seen.

Yes. the ignore toggles. Ignore colors Check. Ignore font faces. Check. Ignore font sizes? Check. In spite of my attrocious spelling, my enemies, hereafter named: my 'buddies', use exotic font-faces, such as Pristina, illegible font-colors, and i donno, either microscopic or fucking huge fonts. No longer, because Gaim 1.5.0 doesnt put up with that shit, and neither do I.

And for the record, Gaim comes preinstalled with spell-checking, but I disabled that.

Anyway, in all seriousness, I am at the foot of a huge CMS project, codenamed: Wespe, and over the upcoming weeks, worklogs will speckle this poor excuse for a blog. (poor because I actually manage to say relevant stuff) Like how about that Terri Schiavo, aye? Whoever knew box-office media hype could actually adversely create a real-world media sensation? I'm not knocking the handicapped, i'm indicting all the parties involved in the sensationalism of it, especially since I think i'm the only one who remembers her name.

So. Doom movie. $15 mil.

Octoberfest

This is a fresh update for shocktober.

After much diliberation, I've weighed the prospects of a blog about current events and/or histrionic personal musings. For those unfortunate souls whom I know, you're asking yourselves: "Man, why isn't jacob tackling the issues? Is it because his indifference is the secret to his bad boy charm?"

I can address that.

Firstly, topical apathy has little to do with my charm. I'm just a naturally brusque and sexy guy. It's almost undefinable, but its an innate quality that would exist whether I was a repugnant talk-show host or a hollywood celebrity.

Secondly, my political beliefs may jeapordize my stance with my neo-conservative co-workers and potential clients, under the assumption that neccesity would require them to read this blog. In a day and age when partisanship has created a rift between blue and red, this is an increasing liability.

Thirdly, I'm spent. I mean, it's evident that with all these natural disasters, our administration's unpreparedness truly surfaces. We dont have 'ragheads' or various geometric forms of evil to blame for them. Its unavoidable that our lack of anticipation is to blame, consitering the federal government's only real purpose in this country is to Protect and Serve and redistribute Blue state money to Red state welfare. I just wonder where all that money for homeland security went. Infact, wouldn't it be funny if Karl Rove prodded Dubya to blame his Weather diety: God? Would he renounce his faith, or declare himself the anti-christ? Well, to pay that credence, the late pope John Paul II did declare the war in iraq a sin. Point I'm making in that, is that the success of the Bush administration is creditted to playing the part of a helpless victim who rises in a grossly inaccurate personification of David and Goliath. Without a tangable enemy, it makes them look straight-up foolish.

So, yeah, with all of that said. I throw in the towel with political commentary. As for histrionic musings about girls, how much paint thinner i drank the night before, and the new Morrissay album, I'll try to avoid it. The idea behind this blog is simply to highlight stuff concerning Popgun88.

This entry can be filed under Musings.
