Polaris is a local progressive metal band. I grew up with the members, and am still friends with them. A few years ago, they commissioned me to design a website for them. Although, they've moved on, I believe that the site still should be available.
Features
The Design
The design is the highlight of this project. Initially, I made a "game" themed design for Genevate, however, that project fell through, however, I thought that it had enough character to make its way to Polaris. Its the most graphically intensive design I've made.
The design is actually product of the season. Depending on the season, the design will change. (I.E. snow will appear on it in the winter.)
Gigs
Gigs are linked to venues. When a user creates a gig, it automatically delivers all the info about the venue along with it, including directions, website, etc.
The CMS
The CMS actually catches the timeframe when I ported from Procedural development to Object-Oriented development. I programmed about three different CMSs for it. First one was actually implimented directly into the frontend, so if they logged in, they'd be able to edit their data directly. The later, object-oriented version was my system, Katyusha, which is the same system I'm running for Popgun88.
Basically, they can manage gigs, music samples, artist profiles and mass-emails.
Afterwords
This project reveals that although I've become almost explicitly a programmer, I still am quite capable at website design.
